Meeting Notice (Dec 3) – "So you want to talk politics?"
– Beverly
TO: My friends with
interests in political issues
Because there seem to be so
few places where we can talk about “political” issues without somebody objecting
to discussion of that subject matter, we started this almost weekly forum
in May 2009. All ideas and points of view are welcome. Just come to
a "battle of wits" armed, and bring a friend. We hope that you will go home with more.
We generally meet every Monday evening, except for the 4th Monday
of the month and major holiday conflicts.
Our next regular Politics Forum meeting will be Monday evening, December 3, from 7:30PM to 9PM, PANERA BREAD, 2314 W. 95th Street, 95th Street & Claremont Ave. (1 block east of 95th
& Western - north side), Beverly
neighborhood in Chicago. Please
encourage potential candidates to come.
There is no shortage of subjects:
jobs, deficits, regulation, taxes, crime, education, health care,
infrastructure, corruption, etc.
This forum is an opportunity for participation, rather than just
coming to listen to someone speak. The
format of the meeting is similar to many very successful business
networking groups that I already lead around the Chicagoland area. The “program” will run from 7:45PM to 8:45PM
with time for informal exchange and lively discussion before and after,
too. Panera Bread sells delicious coffee
and other food items. There will be no
other cost (but your time) for membership and participation in this group.
Everyone will get opportunities to participate with
-- announcements of other
(political) meetings and activities
-- introductions (30
sec) -- Who are you? What do you do? and Why are you interested?
-- thanks and referrals
-- chit-chat
(discussion) topic
We will focus the program on
political issues. It’s a networking opportunity, too. Bring lots of business cards and
brochures. Please invite friends. Candidates, bring lots of campaign material
(we all know why we're coming). The
“Machine” will stay in control as long as we are apathetic. Let’s get to know, like and trust each other
better.
Rev. Willie T. Barrow of
Rainbow/PU$H says, “We are not so much divided as we are disconnected.”
I add, "Come, get off
your chest what’s on your mind."
