If you have problems or concerns about anything of a non-emergency nature, contact the alderman's office. His staff is friendly and eager to help you. This blog is not the best way to report a problem.

I want the contract for parking meters in the 19th Ward. Is it up for bid yet?
ReplyDeleteEven though I didn't vote for him, I've come to believe Matt O'Shea is a good alderman. His office is much more responsive than the previous one. I think, though, that he needs to develop an alliance with some other aldermen and form an anti-Rahm bloc. We need to start saying no to millions of giveaways to real estate developers, for a start. This blog has bitched and moaned about teachers; where's the bitching and moaning about corporate welfare?
ReplyDeleteMPots is right. I don't think it's corporate welfare per se. I think it's connected businessman welfare.
DeleteYou cry about the corporate welfare which is voted on by your alderman and then defend your alderman. Can you spell dellusional! Everyone loves their alderman, etc., but we are now known for being the third worst run state this past week as reported by Forbes. When are we going to start selling the parks to pay for pensions? The corporate park company will get a contract offered by the mayor, approved by the City Council, fence off all parks and have people pay by the hour to use them. Now that the skyway, parking gargages, parking meters are gone, they should get to work making Chicago and Illinois the priciest place in the world to exist.
ReplyDeleteIs there a point here?
DeleteOr should I say, thanks for proving my point?
DeleteWe are heading for #1 with a bullet for worst run states. Mudigan must have awarded Forbes an exclusive news stand in Springfield to keep us out of the #1 spot.
ReplyDeleteMurph, thank you for pointing out the appropriate method for contacting the alderman and/or his staff. Frankly, I think someone who "reports" an issue here or on any other blog rather than contacting 311 or the ward office is looking for an excuse to get angry and stay that way. Actually, those people are probably already bent out of shape about something in the first place. Venting does not equate with reporting.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with murph and MPots that this blog should not be used as a conduit or channel for any elected official. Otherwise its purpose to "serve as a forum to discuss issues" would be derailed.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is not being used as a conduit or channel by any elected official. This blog is being used by some constituents of some elected officials to file "reports." Our elected officials expect us to go through the proper channels to notify them of our concerns, and that's what we should do.
DeleteI worked for O'Shea's main competitor a few years ago and believed she would have been the best choice given her independence, professonal credentials and understanding of the many challenges. I met Matt a few times during the campaign and was impressed with his sincerity ,but not sure of his talents. I must admit, however, so far so good. This guy works hard at the job and is indeed responsive. Competitive races always advantage the constituent.
ReplyDeleteI have a idea a way the City Of Chicago can increase revenue. How about review dog licensees. I bet if you have animal control walk up and down blocks and if a dog barks check to see if the animal is licensed. How about just checking the dog walkers. You could also tax dog owners. The dogs use the parks beaches and my front lawn to make deposits.. We read of the dog incidents in the news and almost every one the dogs have never been licensed let alone vaccinated. There is a ton of money here if that is owed to the City.
ReplyDeletejust got my un-metered water bill. $415!!!....The bill has gone up $150 over 2 years time. I live in the typical Mt. Greenwood Georgian with 1 bath and 2 bedrooms. Is my bill way off? Is there a way to contest? I feel as if I am subsidising others??
ReplyDeleteI live in single family home. There are 2 people in the H H. I have been on the meter for water for 8 months. My average bill is S10.00 per month. Remember I am a senior . This is the greatest. I would tell anyone call and see if its right for you. I Should have done this a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI live in a single family home. There are 2 in the h h. I signed up for the meter 8 months ago. My bill averages $ 22.00 every 2 months. I am a senior citizen I only pay for water usage. The meter is the greatest. Try it.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy you opposed the minimum wage increase the way it is set up. I believe people are entitled to raises yearly like office workers if they are evaluated and found to deserve them. Why can't fast food workers be treated the same. Start out at minimum wage and earn .25 for each year after they have demonstrated they are good workers.
ReplyDeleteThe Lions of Mount Greenwood want to "recognize" the Alderman for his usual lack of cooperation regarding our 30th annual Food Drive. He was notified of all the details and requested that the event be published on the ward web site, It was NOT!!!
ReplyDeleteHe was asked to help in other ways... He did NOT!! Another example of Mount Greenwood being ignored unless it benefits him!
There are still some barricades @97th and Longwood blocking 1/2 of the intersection.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know about the Xrated male show that is happening at 11114 S Kedzie this Saturday, Feb 13th? I thought this was a fitness center, not an an X-Adult entertainment center. And Walgreens is giving them all parking for free? How convenient. What kind of alderman would want to bring in this kind of business to our family orientated neighborhood?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to find out if our ward is going to get the new lighting that Rham Emanuel is going to have the new lighting put in our ward????????
