Are you tired of turkey? Join us tonight for the 19th Ward Family Pasta Dinner at 115 Bourbon St., 3359 W. 115th St. from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Tickets are $5 each and include a family friendly pasta buffet. Proceeds will benefit the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation & the 19th Ward Youth Foundation.

The Turkey Trot is a great event. You can walk it or run it. It showcases some of the most beautiful blocks in the neighborhood, raises money for great causes, provides a positive activity with health benefits, enables families an opportunity to do something affordable together, highlights local businesses, allows kids to engage in fun activities at the race, and brings friends and neighbors together. I'm glad in live in a place that has such an event, and that the leadership of this community had the wherewithal to create this race. I'm thankful for my alderman, Matt O'Shea, who started this event in 2009.

The theme of this blog has changed. We are now headed into a period of extreme political and economic troubles. We want to increase everyone's awareness and show them how to weather the storm. We are going to begin including articles and videos on prepping (food, water, shelter, medicine, self-defense,) basic economics and general SHTF lifestyle changes.

I am not going to be critical of 19th ward politicians. They tend to do the best job they can with very limited resources, and don't need to be beaten up. In fact, people should be helping them as they are among the last "normal" leaders in Illinois.

I am keeping the 19th Ward Chicago name because of the rich blog history going back to 2010 and because there is a ready-made base of similar-thinking readers. For now on, the 19th Ward of Chicago will be mainly a point of reference, an observation deck if you will. A place where allot of good-natured, normal-thinking people still live and can safely view the dysfunction overtaking America. Write whatever you want about whatever or whomever you want. Just keep it true and not vulgar.

At all times, we am going to comply with Blogspot's community standards. We have seen what happens when there is not such compliance.

We will never publish threats of physical violence or baseless attacks on people or institutions.
