Entertainment

Attention 19th ward residents, please support the Beverly Arts Center. The folks running the Irish Film Festival have moved everything from BAC to the north side. We wish them good luck.

some remark was passed by the north siders that the irish from the south side smelled funny or something of that nature, therefore the movie festival was moved north,,,go figure.also is it true that due to political coorectness Ginger Rugai changed her name to Ginger Shabazz before she left office????

The Beverly arts center has clearly been mismanaged. It has been a money pit from the start. I am curious to know what kind of salaries are being paid out of there and who are the beneficiaries.

    1. I'm not so sure that salaries are the problem. It's more like a lack of support from the neighborhood. Why that is? I have no clue.

Their events are usually overpriced and they are not geared toward the majority of the neighborhood. It's a nice building with a lot of potential, but they need to find a way to keep people coming through the doors on a consistent basis. Might be time they look into what Gaelic park and the Irish heritage center are doing.

We saw comedians TJ and Dave and they were great! Saw The Waco Brothers and both shows were very very affordable about $20 a ticket. We enjoy the movies there and we can buy tickets for two, popcorn, a beer and a wine for $22. All this in our neighborhood. If you want to see something different, maybe you should let them know.

I don't find their films to be overpriced. The concerts may be overpriced to some. What type of events would you suggest which would be geared to the majority of the neighborhood? I'm just trying to get clarification. I think there is a problem with support from the community too, Murph.

I'd still like to hear from the first commenter on March 4th some specifics about how events in general are overpriced at BAC. The person who posted above with ticket prices seems to provide evidence to the contrary.
