Alderman O'Shea. You've been in office a year. You should be well settled in by now. Please tell us your plan for the revitalization of 95th Street. Please keep in mind, everyone wants you and 95th Street to succeed.
What are the owners of the properties going to do about about 95th st?The alderman nor the city are not responsible for the vacant stores/just reminding everyone.
Maybe not, but the Alderman and the City Counsel are 100% responsible for the crippling taxes and ridiculous zoning restrictions that help to drive out existing businesses and discourage new enterprise in our Ward.
Red flex can occupy one building and use it as a speed camera maintenance facility. The other could be an office/ vault for Rahm's blind trust board/ council/ band of thieves or whatever you want to call it. Thanks, Matt!
Remember, even if we don't like the current office holder we do want his involvement because he is the alderman. So,he has to make decisions because the rules and regulations made by the city is what usually chokes progress in the business community. Yes the building owners are responsible too. A starting point might be to see what kind of help they do need. Why do I have to go up north to visit some bar or restaurant that we don't have out south here. This IS where leadership is needed to bring business and government together to see how to build a better climate for business. Time to shine Matt.......
These job killing, business killing Democrats who have absolutely no experience or knowledge of the free market business world can only look upon the Obama Board ups and the devastation to jobs their liberal policies have produced with slack jaw amazement - sort of like the expression OShea has on his face in the above photo....
I really think Matt O'Shea is not to blame on this one. Remember, the city was giving away the old library to the Wishbone Restaurant. They were unable to get the financing for the project.I think he should look to copy what Evergreen Park is doing. They seem to be having alot more luck at it, than the city.
Good answer! Sounds like a page right out of Obama's re-election book... not my fault doesn't cut it - Where is the plan? We are not blaming him for what has already come to pass - but what is HE going to do about it? I am sure the brainiacs in the 19th Ward HQ are hard at work looking for solutions...Here are the minutes of that meeting Matt: How about a cigarette tax, huh? Ed Baloney: Nah, Quinn just pushed that... Fran: wait how about a tax on sodas ?? Baloney: No Rahm is pushing that right now too... Fran : How bout some parking meters on 95th, that would help, right Master Ed? Ed Baloney : NO !! already in place. Guys, we gotta solve this problem...there must be something we haven't taxed yet...come on...think about it...what are you paying me for, I mean what am I paying you for. Folks we are going to solve this crisis, somehow, even if it takes til 5:30 PM I have reservations at the club !!
Why didn't O'Shea fight to stop the development on Western in Evergreen Park which is going to cause tons of problems for our Ward with no benefit or why didn't O'Shea try to attract that type of development to 95th street which would at least attract jobs and tax revenue for our community ? No leadership, no ideas, no clue ?
The key phrase here is..."the development in Evergreen Park"...Mr. O'Shea does not serve Evergreen Park, he serves the 19th Ward who elected him. Evergreen Park could argue similar issues with the wonderful development at Mother McCauley on 99th street which boarders Evergreen Park. The development by the Sisters of Mercy will increase traffic and create chaos in the Evergreen Park neighborhood...similar to Western ave. Evergreen Park could not stop your wonderful development, nor can you stop the development on Western ave. Let it go!!!!
The difference is Evergreen Park tried to fight the development for the good of its community. O'Shea gave his full support to Patrick Daley Thompson despite the fact that he was the consultant on the Evergreen Park project and made hundreds of thousands of dollars on a project that is going to adversely effect our Ward. There is no way in hell that the 11th Ward would support a 19th Ward candidate who would attempt to develop a project detrimental to their ward. O'Shea is just a phony tool and not a leader.
I do not think that Evergreen Park fought this development as you perceive....there is no way that Evergreen even think about blowing the chance at additional tax revenue for the Village...the same arguments were made about Walmart and Sam's Club.....and are currently being talked about Evergreen Plaza. Again...all of these issues are within Evergreen Park's boundaries...the 19th ward as powerful as it believes it is, has no authority...!!! You made no mention of the McCauley issue....I guess that that development is ok!!!

ReplyDeleteIf you owned property on 95th Street, would you invest money in it or just walk away?
DeleteMaybe not, but the Alderman and the City Counsel are 100% responsible for the crippling taxes and ridiculous zoning restrictions that help to drive out existing businesses and discourage new enterprise in our Ward.
DeleteHe has no clue what his plans are.
ReplyDeleteHe's waiting to be TOLD what the machine's plans are.

DeleteDid you ever stop and seriously think about why that is??
Trust me. I am not that big of an idiot.
ReplyDeleteMatt is not to blame for the problems on 95th St. It's something he inherited.
ReplyDeleteI think what they were asking is wheres Matty O's plan. Is there a plan? Is there a committee? Is anyone working on this?
ReplyDeleteWhy is O'Shea blamed for this. The fault lies with___________________. And everyone knows it.
ReplyDeleteBush.
