Vote for Andrew Byrne Hodorowicz. The only candidate that has a financial background. The only candidate who isn't blowing smoke up everyone's ass. To vote for anyone else would be irresponsible.
Hodorowicz is the "stalking horse" for Hurley. He is running interference for her to absorb as much of the anti-19th ward machine vote as possible. The proof is that both recieved legislative scholarships from past and current 19th ward endorsed legislators, to wit: Hurleys son recived 1 from Senator Maloney in 2010 and Hodorowicz kid got one in 2004 from Joyce.
The 35th District is the most conservative democratic district in the state. We vote democrat because we are pro union. We are a district made up of Catholic parishes and high schools and a university. Fran Hurley is pro gay marriage and pro abortion. Tony Martin is a union firefighter and pro life. He is the married father of 4 young children. He is the most representative of our community.
Hodorowitz kid got one of those BS legislative scholarships too. Not blowing smoke! Ha. His nickname should be Cheech. Anybody voting for him could be his Chong.
I wish their campaign literature actually said where they stand on important issues.
If true, the scholarships for Hurley's kid and Hodorowitz's kid are real problems for me. If true, it goes to show that they're in in for themselves, not for the people of the district. Have Hurley and Hodorowitz actually said whether or not these things are true?
You don't have to guess about the scholarships. You can find them on the ISBE website. Go to http://www.isbe.state.il.us/foia/default.htm, scroll down to request 12-060, the last column on the right has the response, there are two excel files. You can find Hurley's son (search for Dorgan) in file 2 and you can find Hodorowicz son in file 1.
In a recent forum, all candidates were asked about this and Hurley failed to admit her son had received one, she was asked the question first. Hodorowiscz did admit to receiving one. Martin and Williams said they had not received one.
I was at the League of Women Voters forum where Hodorowicz indicated that his kid applied for several grants and scholarships as did his daughter. His son was the only recipient of one of those scholarships. Was he affiliated or used influence to get one of those scholarships? I believe Dorgans kid received one and had influence in the process and I believe the real issue should be a qualified and experience leader. Not one who keeps the same issue alive. A record of failing his pension fund and losing half its value are the real issues. Quit the BS.
Here is an idea: Have everyone you know call the Beverly Review and tell them you want them to look into these accusations....are they true? Probably but let's see if we can put their feet to the fire...and also we should call their campaigns and ask them directly... that way if they say the answer is no...and then we find out differently..then you will KNOW..how to vote that is.....
I got a flyer in the mail from the 19th Ward Regular Democratic Organization.
They claim that Anthony Martin does not live in the legislative district, but they don't say where he lives. Why not?
The claim that Martin will be a "part-time, double-dipping legislator eligible for multiple taxpayer funded paychecks and multiple public pensions." I suppose the same could be said about Ms. Hurley.
The 19th ward RDO said what .... patronage, payoffs, pay to play, double dipping, and legislative scholarships for the friends of ours who play ball. They should know but would never tell if they weren't scared.
Tony Martin grew up and lives in Mt. Greenwood. Where was our leadership in Springfield when parishes, public school districts and ward boundaries were allowed to be divided ? What does someone from Orland Park have in common with residents of the 21st ward ? Tony Martin is located directly in the center of the district and shares the values most representative of the district.
I think you would be surprised by how much I have in common with people from the 19th and 21st Wards. We moved to Orland Park in 2006 so my wife could help take care of her grandmother after my mother in law was killed by a drunk driver. I enlisted in the military after working in my parents small businesses and a factory making plastic car parts following high school. I also drove a tractor on a farm and repaired cars in a garage during the summers. I worked my way through college at a police department in suburban Memphis following the military and then worked my way through graduate school at Kellogg School of Business, one of the top business schools in the world. I've sacrificed and worked hard to improve my family's life. I am exactly what the residents of the 19th and 21st wards as well as the suburbs want in a representative since I am the only one with the experience to represent the entire district.
This elect ion is just like the aldermans race last year. Pickle had a few shrills in that election too. Hodorowicz and Martin both take orders from Pickle. Their life purpose is to be sure that Fran Hurley is elected. They are tools.
That really does not make sense to me. If they are both controlled by "Pickles" ! ? and "it is their life purpose to be sure Hurley is elected", then why are the both running? Maybe one of them could be a Pickle. That would make sense. Adding a third person into a contested two person race would make sense. They cannot both be plants. And if they are both in it to help her win it...why enter the race at all... she would be unopposed. It is a PRIMARY - not the actual election. What these low lifes are used to doing is putting a plant on the Republican side, to try to get that person to win the Republican primary and then that person lays down for the DemocRAT. P.S. they should know about double dipping pensioneers and part time (and NO time) workers... the Democrats have perfected the art !!
I'm voting for Fran Hurley because she is pro gay marriage and pro abortion. Its about time we have someone to represent us in our community on these issues. Not every issue here is about the police and fire departments. Good luck Fran and when you get to Springfield say hi to Debbie Mell for me.
This whole thing is just a popularity contest. The kool-aid drinkers are voting for fran because she has the most "friends". She has no qualifications for the job. Even some of her so-called "friends of fran" admit that tony is the better guy. Stick to your day job "fran the man". I'll call you when i need my lights turned back on
Fran is full of crap. She gets a pension from the ward as their secretary, She gets a chunk of her ex husbands penson. Getting married to another fireman to get a piece of his pension. Now she wants a fourth pension. Free tuition for her kid. Does her greed have any limits?
The way to a cleaner slat is to vot e for the person you feel you can relate to on more than just one issue. This one issue voter is how these rats stay in power. Until you can get these people in a forum where we the people can ask what they stand for is when we will win. That takes hard work and time, get involved people. We need a two party system not one, that's how we got in this mess. A straight ticket vote will only perpetuate this problem. Get out to vote and be honest with your vote.
Can someone tell me why Anthony Martin chose to run for State Rep in a district he doesn't live in? Why didn't he run for office in the district where he lives? If he wins will he and his family move into the district he will represent or does he even have to? Why would I vote for someone who chose the wrong district to run in? Are there legitimate answers to these questions or do I smell a rat?
Wrong district? I just looked at the Madigan gerrymandering map... which broke up Queen of Martyrs parish which had always been part of the 35th. As far as I know he's a block out of the new district, still part of the community, and has every legal right to run, since the election board (or the 19th ward) would have put an injunction on his to prevent him from running if it were legally prohibited. He's a community member and he has every right to run, and may be the smartest of all four candidates (Fran, Andrew, and Steven).
Tony Martin is right in the center of the 36th District and should be running there and not the 35th District. Whats up with that...He did not want to challenge a strong candidate(Kelly Burke) a woman, and chose to challenge a weaker candidate(Fran Hurley)a woman. He chose to challenge the weaker of two women. Its pretty simple, he didn't want to get beat up by a girl. What a coward.
Wrong. Martin lives 300 ft. out of 35th not in middle of 36th district. This change of boundaries happened in June of 2011 and took effect this year. The seat is OPEN this year. He can legally run and only has to move that 300ft. when he seeks re-election in two years. If he is afraid of girls he is even smarter than I'd already given him credit. Girls can be very scary and mean. Just ask poor John Wayne Bobitt
Only change will happen if you vote for the Republican in the fall. Any democrat will take their orders from Madigan no matter if they like him or not.
It is really like trying to choose between one crook who wants to steal your car, and another who wants to burglarize your home.
However, there is a difference between Martin and Hurley but only on the social issues...Hurley - radically liberal, insultingly proabortion and pro gay etc....Martin is Pro Family, or pro-life and pro marriage the way it has been defined for the past 2,000 YEARS !!! and more....I say vote for Martin in the primary and then vote Republican in the fall....otherwise more nanny crap Big Brother laws, higher and higher taxes while in-state tuition for illegals....
If you are a successfull investment banker with only 2 kids why did Andrew Byrne Hodorowicz need to get his kid a legislative scholarship in 2004 from Joyce? It seems to me these scholarships should only be awarded to kids with some promise whose main source of parental income had been jeopardized ( either because of death of parent or loss of job). Another GREEDY Banker and scam artist.
The rule is clear and very simple, if you are a resident of a district prior to the ten year census and your home is drawn out of the district as a result of the re-mapping process, you are permitted to seek election in your former district provided that you move into the new district boundaries after winning an election. One of the reasons for this rule is to prevent incumbents from re-mapping political rivals (potential challengers) out of the district, thereby preventing them from running.
In this case, Tony has lived in this district for his entire life prior to the most recent re-map. If Tony did not reside in the 35th District, he would not have been allowed onto the ballot period. The inescapable truth is that Tony is legally on the ballot. If he wasn't, the 19th Ward Democratic Organization would have challenged his nominating petitions to have him removed from the ballot. They did not because they could not.
Furthermore, it is also obvious that those questioning Tony's residency did not attend ANY of the candidate forums because if they had they would have heard Tony state that he fully intends to move into the new boundaries (less than 1 block from his current home) if he wins. They would have also heard him say that one of the reasons he is running is because it is a failure of leadership to allow a community and a parish to be divided into two separate districts.
Finally, those paying attention and those present at the debates heard Tony state that among other things he decided to run because Fran lacks the requisite qualifications and values to represent us in Springfield.
Please. Cunningham and Maloney worked for US in Springfield they should have showed some leadership to keep our community ( Mt Greenwood) and our parish ( Queen of Martyrs) whole. I do expect that from our leadership. Asshat.
Just noticed there are a lot less "12 can Fran" signs. Apparently, over 400 were put on lawns without the permission of the home owners. Nothing like trying to force folks to think she's got the seat already. Hope not!
I did notice that there arent that many Martin signs out there. I thought it was because he had second thoughts about running so hard. Maybe he didn't want to spend the money. Just saying.
That could be because you only drive up and down Central Park. You know the same block her future mother-in-law lives on. Look around there are actually more Martin signs than "12 can Fran." And, most that have the "12 can Fran" signs openly admit Martin is the more qualified candidate. But, in November we will all see it's time for the kool aid drinking to stop and the Republicans to fix the dems mess. Steve Williams has our vote!
I'll be glad when its over on Mar 21. Then I'll be able to call the ward office again and ask for some crap I don't even want ( garbage can or tree trim) just to talk to Fran. She has always been more qualified for "constiuent services" anyway.
Over 400 signs without permission? You're making things up.
As for the Queen of Martyrs nitwit above, no one cares if your parish is split, and there is no reason that a Catholic parish needs to be in the same legislative district, asshat.
