I like Fran. You have to know your way around in order to get things done. Fran knows her way around.

Sorry but that makes no sense at all. You are correct that she will "get things done" but it is not at all what I would like to see get done. If elected Fran will get done - whatever Madigan wants to get done. Since they just raped us with taxes last year and scared alot of businesses out of ILLinois, they will turn their attention to their liberal social agenda, (which is not very popular in the 19th Ward) ie abortion, homosexual marriage, giving illegal immigrants in state tuition rates while Paddy Quinn takes used science books that had been loaned to Catholic schools away from students because "we can't afford it". I saw the 19th Ward is having a fundraiser at Marist High School ? Unbelievable nerve these fallen away Catholics have.....they are Democrats first, Irish second, and Catholic when it suits their political strategy....I think it was funny to hear Fran say she is for keeping taxes low... she looked at me like I was a martian when I told her I was not supporting Quinn because he was already promising to raise taxes. Before the election of Quinn and before her run for office she could not have cared LESS about higher taxes. Too bad - shut up and pay up !
But this time we can knock her out before she ever gets the chance to rob us !! Vote Martin in the primary and Republican in the fall... or get ready for the same old Democrat rerun...tax, tax and then tax some more....

Seriously? She knows her way around Mt. Greenwood and that's about all. She touts herself as a struggling single mom. If she makes it past the primary she won't be able to use that angle anymore because she will be remarried by then. So what's her next big "qualification"? She can walk and chew gum?

Really like Tony Martin. I like what he has to say. He appears highly qualified to represent the district. It's too bad some of his so-called brothers on the cfd are choosing to vote for the clearly unqualified candidate

I like Tony Martin he is the most educated and has been a true public servant. Fran is not very friendly and has a sense of entitlement. It is most disturbing that she allowed a negative mailer be put out by Matt O'Shea, under the guise of 19th Ward Democratic Organization, calling Martin a double dipper and implying that Chicago Firefighters and Chicago Police Officers are ineligible to run for public office. In fact it is Fran who would be a double dipper entitled to two public pensions ,one city and one state, if she were to be elected. Every first responder and public service worker should be outraged by the negative tactics of Fran and Matt's 19th Ward Organization.

I'm voting for Fran Hurley because she is pro gay marriage and pro abortion pro Obama and pro giving out scholarships. She is PRO-gressive on all these issues and not ANTI-everything like everyone else. Its about time we have someone to represent us in our community on these issues. Not every issue here is about the police and fire departments.

At least you're an honest liberal, being sarcastic, (or maybe Fran is posting anonymously).
Regardless that is out of step with alot if not a solid majority of residents in the 35th Dist if not the 19th Ward believe. Our ward is still pro-family as evidenced by the restructuring of the parade. Regarding the word pro-gressive, calling yourself one does not make you one. Approx. 2,000 years ago, children were routinely snuffed out and aborted in the misty times past. Abortion has been considered barbaric to Western culture for a very long time now. Also it is seriously unnecessary in the 21st Century when medical science could save an unborn fetus. I used to like it when the Democrats actually were for the "little guy". Abortion is an affront to human decency, sickening in practice, and often scars the woman for life. Many have reported walking down the street years after an abortion, seeing a mother pushing a baby stroller, and suddenly bursting into uncontrollable sobs and tears. Good thing Fran is getting money from Personal PAC, a radically pro-abortion organization. The new Democrats are radically liberal and their support for abortion "rights" makes me physically sick.........

I'm leaning towards Andrew Byrne Hodorowicz. I like his finance background. With the State being in such financial mess I believe he can help solve some of the problems. His campaign appears to be underfunded yet he received the endorsement from the Chicago Tribune. Very impressive. The other two candidates are not very impressive. They seem to me to be too full of themselves and mean spirited. There is still a week before the election and I could change my mind.

I think Martin, the negative ads from the 19th Ward, tipped me over to Martin. I think people should vote for Martin. The 19th Ward cannot have it both ways -- we appreciate that you put your life on the line for us as a fireman, but when its election, we will use the fact that you are a fireman against you.

I don't know why the Southtown hasn't reported on this.

    2. If we truly knew what was going on we would be in front of the ward office with torches and pitchforks. Can we ask how long do these people planon staying in office? What do they think they are going to do for us in Springfield? A finance background from Hodorowicz is a start. We need to keep the connections to the current clowns to a minimum. We have to have a local forum before the general elections to ask questions.

A couple of points in response to above

    1) First responders have historically never been real fond of the 19th ward no matter which Committeeman or Alderman had the puppet strings attached that year.

    2) The office of State rep is a entry level position for people seeking elected office. Qualifications don’t mean that much especially when if the person is an elected Democrat since Lucifer/Mike Madigan works all the strings on the puppet.

    3) Be a cross over Republican, vote Democratic in the primary and Republican in the fall. Even if the Democrat wins in the fall and the Republican looses it sends a very powerful message if the Dems don’t get the numbers they look for on election day. Trust me if Hurley wins in the fall or the primary by a couple of percentage points they will be dispensing large amounts of Kaopetate at the ward office on election night.

If it is true that the 19th Ward Democrats are holding a fundraiser at Marist High School to promote pro-abortion politicans Fran Hurley, Bill Cunningham, and Matt O'Shea, then Catholics must take immediate action. Faithful Catholics should contact Marist High School officials and the Cardinal to protest this event. Marist needs to be made aware that they cannot consider themselves a Catholic institution if they are offering support to politicans who advocate positions in direct conflict with the core teachings of the Catholic Church. Marist College in New York hosted several pro-abortion politicans and Cardinal Egan officially declard Marist College to no longer be a Catholic school. This has to be a potential outcome for Marist High School as well. If the event does occur, then Cardinal George should officially declare Marist High School to no longer be a Catholic insititution either.

Lest we forget, the real culprits of the finacial meltdown over the past 10 years were the finacial institutions, MORTGAGE BROKERS, and unscrupulous INVESTMENT BANKERS. Please, HODOROWICZ is not what we need. He also used his influence to garner a Legislative Scholarship for his kid in 2004 from Joyce. I'll take my chances with the guy who has the grass roots campaign and the majority of the working peoples union support, Anthony Martin.

If there's a fundraiser for Hurley scheduled at Marist, I'd like to email Bro McNamara, but I don't have his email address. I cannot email him from the school's website -- something not properly installed on my PC.

If anyone is a stalking horse for the Ward it is Hodorowicz. He and his family members are among the Ward's largest contributors. Furthermore, his campaign manager is his brother Frank who "just happens" to be a precinct captain for O'Shea. If all of that was not enough Andrew Hodorowicz's kid recieved a legislative scholarship from the 19th Ward. If thats not "inside baseball" I don't know what is.

Listening to family talking about this race this weekend, it sounds like it could be anyone's game. The negative that the 19th Ward put out was pretty vile. My parents have always put out signs for the 19th during election time, and they had a Hurley sign out in front of the house early on. They always put one up for the captain on the block if he asks. My parents took the sign down when they got the mailer, and had a Martin sign put up after that mailer came out. The captain (will remain nameless, since I dont want to cause trouble with him and the powers that be), still has his Hurley sign up, but won't be voting for her, for the same reason as my parents.

Like I said though, it sounds like its going to be real close.

By the way...did anyone who posted here or reads here go to the forum at Mt Greenwood? Did Fran really not know how to answer a question about how the Mt. Greenwood Chamber got its funding cut to force them to merge with BAPA or something like that? I heard that Cunningham stepped in and answered the question for her. Mom asked and I thought I'd try and find an answer for her. Anyone?

I would like to ask IS FRAN THE BEST THAT THE 19TH WARD DEMS CAN FIND TO REPRESENT OUR INTEREST IN SPRINGFIELD?

She seems to have some baggage, not necessarily good or bad but baggage. She seems to be compromised in a few critical areas. In my opinion, some of her core values may be inconsistent with the religious values shared by a large number of local residents.

Excellent point. While this area is very diverse in many ways: politics, (we voted more for McCain than just about any city ward), we are ethnically diverse, we have alot of business leaders and professionals, as well as alot of city workers....No offense but Fran as our standard bearer (especially with the hidden liberal views) is really pathetic...they had better revert back to the older style ward politics....push the local guys, but stop trying to push these radical liberals at the State and Federal level on us...ie OBAMA. Here is a little tip to you blog surfing 19th Ward pols : Obama is very unpopular in alot of circles here... tradesmen, business people generally despise him and his wine sipping flakes from the Univ of Chicago...so i would highly recommend you don't put the local people and Obama together on your literature....That is the main reason you are in trouble and your base is shrinking...many of us view the New Democrats as completely uninterested in our needs, they tax us and give it to others, ie, endless minority sob stories, Link cards, illegals and their "plight", social radicals, on and on....please dont say you are for "working families" because that makes my blood boil... every family I know - WORKS yet your care more for those who DON'T work !!

Hodorowicz is looking for a paycheck as he jumps from the sinking ship that is the mortgage banking industry. I will not vote for anyone that is tied in to that group of thieves. Fran is some idiot who's never lived a life outside of the 19th ward. What does she know about how the world works (except taking patronage handouts)? Martin is the best chance of the 3(I'll roll the dice with him). I thought I saw an article a couple years ago in the trib stating the fire pension was one of the best funded city pensions. Is this true? If it is it sure goes against that ugly letter from idiot O'Shea's office. Maybe I'll just vote Republican in the fall...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I will probably vote for Martin, but I'm not sure it matters. As long as Madigan is there giving out marching orders and controls the purse strings no one can be an effective legislator where it counts. I think the best campaign would be run by someone who would just tell the truth about Springfield and not expect to win. It would be the best kind of service to the voting public.

The Ward has always been dirty and ugly....they just never had any competition in recent years...but they have put straw candidates on the ballots many times and the lowest dirty mailouts. That is all they really know....that and how to take more money from people....but remember, it's for "the children". When I heard that many public school kids are now being served breakfast and lunch I could barely believe it. That is such a perfect example of what is wrong with our society today... meanwhile my wife makes my kids' brown bag lunches and sends them to Catholic school. People today have NO SHAME and a completely brainwashed "entitlement" mentality... reminds me of an old SNL skit during an election...this ditzy girl gets up to ask the candidate a question...something like this..."Yeah, uh, like I see all these people who like have all this stuff....and I just want to know...uh... where's MY stuff?

I read the disgustingly 19th Ward Machine negative literature referring to Tony as a Double Dipper.
My question to Fran and the rest of the 19th Ward Elite Insiders, how would Tony's Father, a veteran of TWO wars ( World War II & Korea); TWO jobs (Chicago Policeman 42 years and Sears Security Guard 10 years), be viewed by the 19th Ward Liberal Elite Insiders. Would he be considered a Double Dipper and just another working Class Slug who had to many children. The "answer" from those that knew him. He was "TWICE the Man" who loved his county TWICE as much and worked TWICE as Hard. Tony is no Double Dipper and he certainly is no Slug. Mr. Hodorowicz, I give you something to think about. I know signs don't vote, but if you look at the signs on the households, the sign war. you will notice that Hurley and Martin are very close. Hurley probably has a few more. Your signs added to either candidate would would allow one or the other to dominate the sign war. If the households truly vote for the candidates they have a sign for, you could really make a difference in the outcome. If you really believe Hurley is unqualified as you have said publicly I urge you to reach out to Martin, drop out of the race and throw your support to him. Otherwise, you risk being the reason Hurley wins. You quite possibly could go down in history as the spoiler and the reason we have to deal with the same old .... You seem like a reasonable man, let's defeat Hurley and her liberalism. I pray you can make this difficult decision. It's now up to you.

Regardless of the outcome of this race the residents of this neighborhood should never forget the fact that the 19th Ward Organization took this election straight to the gutter . It is shameful and appalling to show such disrespect to Chicago Police Officers and Firefighters by attempting to disqualify them from running for public office. The 19th Ward's candidate Fran Hurley was chosen without any consultation from the community. She is quite possibly the most unqualified candidate and most out of touch with our neighborhood's core values to ever run with the Organization's support. The Committeeman's choice for state representative shows extreme arrogance and total disregard for every resident of our community including the 19th Ward's own precinct captains.

Stop being so naive. Where does the democratic party stand on these candidates? Is madigan pulling the strings for these people? As a 25 year 19th warder I can't stand the idiotic responses of "our heritage, our values." That's all crap. We know what's going on and start speaking your minds. We are running out of time and money to keep these slugs in office. Look for the outsider and run with him. We need help now! Be honest with yourself and stop this madness of one party rule....

If you doubt if one person can affect lives ,look into the fact that almost half of the staff at Sutherland school is leaving after the current school year ends. Most are not fully vested but are leaving because of the direction the administrators are taking the school. Where is the LSC?????????

To All 19th Ward Voters. Remember when you first learned to type. "Now is the time for all Good Men to come to the aid of their country". Well It's time. I read the returning Veterans Blog above and the almost hopeless reply that followed. The 19th Ward is like a bunch overindulging self-serving liberal addicts that are determined to bring us to the bottom by choosing an "ULTRA LIBERAL" i.e. Fran. It's time to put in place the 12 step Conservative Recovery Program and restore some decency and normality back to the 19th ward. I recommend "we all use the proven "AA" approach to sustain from drinking any more mind altering liberal cool-aid. It's a simple process just get out and vote and then ensure 12 friends vote. The 19th Ward Recovery requires "We Win" by voting for Tony " "AGAIN and AGAIN "
