The electorate has been described by our leaders as a "basket of deplorables", "garbage" and "scoundrels". Besides that, they do truly care.

This election is starting to look like a sham!
REPOST 35th district debate?
We have 38 days to go before the election. Are the candidates, Martin, Hurley and Hodorowicz, planning on having a public discussion of the issues? Where are all the local civic groups on this?
Thanks to the blogger for bringing these issues to the forefront. I truly believe that this blog can be a force for positive change in our area. It can become a clearinghouse for info. that is not focused on by our elected officials. Please spread the word to friends and neighbors about this site. I would put up some notices at local posting boards to get people to click on. We need some debate on the issues. Who is Mr. Martin? I received a flyer from him but it did not get specific at all about what he would do. Fran Hurley has not sent anything my way at all. But I think we know where she stands - with the ultra liberal wing of the Democrat Party who has given us all at least a $1,000 - $2,000 state tax increase. Where do these two stand on that one issue ? Also call the Beverly Review and ask them if there will be a debate - and if not why - and ask them to push for a debate - as well as interviews with the candidates. If enough of us ask for it we may get it. Otherwise the arrogant attitudes of the Democrats will continue - and what will that mean to us - another $1,000 tax increase ??? Ask for what you want or you will have to settle for what you get.
There is a candidate forum on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Mt. Greenwood Park field house at 7:45 p.m. following the CAPS meeting there. The candidates will have 15 minutes each to discuss their platform and then will take questions from the audience.
The Beverly Review ran interviews with all four of the candidates for state rep (including Joe Bird before he dropped out) over the past several months. In case you missed those, they are all available online at beverlyreview.net. The Beverly Review does not sponsor debates/forums but would report on them; organizing the events would fall to the local civic organizations.
All that is known about Martin is that he is retired from the Chicago Fire Dept. and lives in Mt. Greenwood. All that is known about Hurley is that she was an aide at the 19th ward offices for years and lives in Mt. Greenwood. All that is known about Hodorowicz is that he works as a mortgage broker and lives in Palos.
I wish these people would take a position, any position, on any topic.
No debate just vote for a republican any republican. The only way we can change this stranglehold is to vote for the opposite party. We can't wait for the cowards that are in office to legislate an changes. These people are NOT our friends. Don't put signs on your lawn , NONE for either party. Just vote for the opposite party. WE MUST TAKE A STAND and show these criminals we mean business.
These people are not our friends and if we don't know where they stand on anything why should we vote for them. We owe them nothing, since the dems treat us like shit,I say f#*k em. Vote for the opposite party. Any dem is a way for madigan to keep his power. They are turning around Wisconsin and Indiana but not Illinois? Vote republican now and lets show them we have the power. Let's start sticking it to them the way they've been sticking it to us.
Murph, the suntimes just put out the video of Martin, Hurley, and Bird at the editorial board. The video last 57 minutes long. Now I know for certain Fran wont debate. She got her but kicked every way sideways. Martin was easily the most knowledgeable. He was the only one there that didnt have a folder of notes in front of him for talking points. I'll give him my vote in primary and then check out the Republican in the general.
The illegal alien lover Tom Dart poking fun at the SSI parade.
Asked whether the sheriff’s police would help with security for the parade — scheduled for March 11 — Dart, a resident of the 19th Ward, deadpanned, “What parade?”
Here is the link to video from candidates debate. http://www.suntimes.com/news/elections/questionaires/10501204-668/house-of-representatives-district-35-democratic-primary.html Answers some important questions!! Maybe you can put it on your blog?
Not to get off the subject but I was just reading how Dart is going to start a fish farm at the jail. Is anyone watching the spending with this clown?
Does anyone other than me think Tom Dart has lost his mind?
From NBC NEWS
Coming soon to a restaurant possibly near you: Fish from the Cook County Sheriff’s Boot Camp.
Sheriff Tom Dart revealed plans Thursday night that will have inmates raising tilapia.
“We’re going to have a tilapia farm in a couple of weeks. We’re going to raise and sell the fish,” Dart said during a speaking engagement at St. Xavier University.
“The waste, I’ve been informed, is really high-grade fertilizer and we’ll use it on our gardens,” Dart said.
Sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki said Friday the fish tanks, located at the sheriff’s boot camp, 2801 S. Rockwell Ave. in Chicago, will be stocked in a few weeks.
Of course this election is a sham. Hurley is backed by madigan and the other two are just two of his stooges. What we need to do is send a message to Madigan and the rest that we will not be taken for granted. I’m voting republican in november.
Illinois is now considered a national joke. Look around and see WHY ! Public employees get paid more than those in the private sector AND they get all the perks imaginable! It used to be private sector people made more $ but worked longer and harder. Govt workers made less but got easier workloads and job security. No more. I see all the city workers with the new cars, the rehabs, additions, vacations, etc...we can see how you live! Democrats get the $ from corrupt unions and once elected fleece the average joe taxpayer to give govt workers more $ - then raise taxes and borrow more. Who runs IL ? Chicago - Democrats Cook County - Democrats Courts and Judges - Democrats State House of Representatives - Democrats State Senate - Democrats Governor - Democrats And now that they run everything - they have run our state into the ground. We are a national joke and businesses that CAN - are fleeing. Not to mention the untold businesses that will never be, at least they will not exist in ILLinois - they are started next door or to the north in Indiana and Wisconsin. How is it going at the local union shop? Everybody fired up to vote once again for Democrat Obama?
This election is anything but a sham. On the contrary, this is the first time in 40 years that the 19th Ward Organization has faced a legitimate opponent. Take a look around and you will see that Tony Martin appears to be running a very serious and organized "grass roots" campaign. Democracy is making a comeback in the 19th Ward and I am glad for that.
I strongly disagree with "Waterbill" quoted above. Lawn signs are a great way to show your support. Moreover, they are a highly visible way to show the 19th Ward that you are an independant thinker and will not blindly follow their marching orders or accept a substandard candidate as your next State Representative.
Indeed, the only "sham" here is being perpetrated by the 19th Ward Organization who is pushing Fran Hurley, an Ultra-Liberal candidate, who does not represent the views of this strogly catholic constituency and who is seemingly devoid of any relevant or meaningful work experience.
I recently viewed the Sun-Times interview posted at http://www.suntimes.com/news/elections/questionaires/10501204-668/house-of-representatives-district-35-democratic-primary.html., and I agree with Anonymous Feb. 11. It is clear to this voter that, based on the candidates answers, Tony Martin is the superior candidate and is more qualified to represent this District. However, I encourage all serious voters to view the video (57 minutes) in its entirety and decide for themselves.
I think waterbill is right. Even if Hurley by some miracle - is defeated in the primary, we will still be left with Tony Martin. Once again, probably a nice guy, I remember the family from the area, but he will become the Democrat and will be brought into line by Madigan - who is the number one problem in ILLinois. So - vote for Martin in the primary - but the only way to change course is to vote Republican in the General election. Remember, this is not a WARD race it is the State House race. Maybe I am wrong and Martin would be ok. BUT - his pamphlet was junk - no serious specifics on things like our huge tax hike, but I will watch the link provided and pass that on in my email chain...thanks for posting..
A state rep candidate forum is being held at the field house at Mt. Greenwood Park at 7:45 on Thursday, Feb. 16. The candidates will have 15 minutes each to discuss their platform and then will take questions.
It's supposed to. There are three Democratic candidates and one Republican, Steve Williams, who is running unopposed in the Republican primary for 35th District rep.
We used TIF money to build this little park at the corner of Kedzie and 111. Now I have noticed allot of commercial signs popping up all over that park. There a few signs for Fran Hurley, some baseball league and about 5 signs for dunkin donuts. Shame on all of you for putting those signs up especially Fran. You know better that that Fran. DD already has 3 massive electric signs on that corner, must they put the signs in the park too. Who is in charge of this park?
What are Fran Hurley's qualifications that would lead the Democratic Party to make her the standard bearer from the 19th Ward. It is becoming hack city with the 19th Ward. At least Ginger had a Masters Degree in Urban Planning or something....They are becoming like the mentally challenged aristocracy of Europe from all the inbreeding.......Kissin O'Cousins......
Fran Hurley's qualifications....possibly popularity ONLY. However, this is not the time to vote for HOMECOMING QUEEN....(based on popularity)It is a time to vote for someone who can think for themselves and not be swayed by the MADIGAN PLAN....
What has the 19th Ward Organization done for you or me? Probably nothing.

Martin is an active member of the CFD.
DeleteWhat should be evident by now is simply that your blog is irrelevant. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat was once said about SCC and Shaved too. They've both proven themselves to be anything but irrelevant.

Answers some important questions!! Maybe you can put it on your blog?
The local civic groups get their funding from Matt O'Shea. They have been told to lie down and they are obeying. No debate this election.
ReplyDeleteI find that hard to believe. BAPA would never do that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not bapa but there are community groups that get tax funding from the city.
ReplyDeleteNot to get off the subject but I was just reading how Dart is going to start a fish farm at the jail. Is anyone watching the spending with this clown?

No need to worry about what's going on. Just keep watching the Kardashians and Jersey Shore. Everything will be fine.
