35th district debate?

We have 38 days to go before the election. Are the candidates, Martin, Hurley and Hodorowicz, planning on having a public discussion of the issues? Where are all the local civic groups on this?

I'm on the fence, a debate would help. Has Martin's group requested a debate? Have they asked the civic associations to host one? If so, Martin should post these letters on his facebook page that his group sent to Hurley and to the civic associations with the date contained to show when he requested such debates. Because without proof, then this is simply false allegations.
I do like the fact that Martin addresses some of the issues (newspaper articles) on his facebook website. He offered his position regarding the teachers' pension reform (Madigan wants property taxes to cover). I do not see this on Fran's website.

But, neither of these candidates have offered much else. One wants you to vote for her because she is backed by 19th Ward, and the other wants you to vote for him because he is not backed by the 19th Ward. Both positions are weak, but if I had to vote today, I'd vote for the one backed by the 19th Ward, so to Martin's group, keep posting his positions, update the facebook and website daily, get more information about who Tony is and if the other candidates remain silent or are reluctant to debate or address issues on their website, then my family will vote for you.

Me thinks that Fran Hurley is afraid to debate. Just saying.

NONE OF THESE CANDIDATES WANT A DEBATE. THINK ABOUT THAT.

  5. None of the candidates have had any contact with this blog. I would think that if they had an opinion about an important issue, they would reach out. We still have five weeks to go.

How could Fran survive a debate where she has to answer questions about taking money from PPAC the radical PRO-ABORTION group determined to get their like-minded law makers elected. Her website only listed endorsements from Illinois teachers union and FOP ( not a real union ). Why not personally list the ABORTION group as an endorsement? Martin apparently is getting many more union endorsments. It's likely, O'Shea and the 19th ward puppet masters wont let her debate even if she wanted too.

Does anyone know if she's getting money from the pro-abortion people?

Has anyone noticed Mike Joyce has zoomed way ahead in the voting. I'm not surprised.

Tony Martin seems to be a stand up guy. I think he would debate Fran Hurley any place, at any time, on any issue. Murph, you should contact each candidate's campaign office and offer to coordinate a public debate.

However, full participation in a debate is unlikely as Fran's "handler" Bill Cunningham would never allow her to openly debate the issues because it is very likely that, in an open debate, Fran would have to publicly explain her pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage views. Moreover, she would also have to answer questions regarding whether her child was awarded a Legislative Scholarship while she was employed by the 19th Ward Democratic Organization and receiving the benefit of two City of Chicago incomes.

Anybody know how Fran is using the Mt. greenwood 19th ward office as her campaign headquarters. This office is paid for with public funds. Hopefully the better government asociation is actually looking into this.

Fran Hurley could care less about tax payers. Her eyes literally glaze over when you mention the taxpayers. These 19th Ward Democrats do not even care one bit about higher taxes, after all most of them or their families are at the public well - taking tax dollars. There is no hope with the Democrats. It is time to take a stand and vote Republican. I saw big margins for Bush Sr. and Reagan in the 80's in the 19th Ward. Make a call to the Beverly Review - and BAPA. Ask them if there are any plans to hold debates. If not ask them if they are asking for debates. And if they are not calling for debates, ask them - Why Not?
If these people come to you doors ask them as well. Tell them you are tired of them coming to you asking for more and more money that goes for free cell phones for the poor, free link cards for the poor and more money for government workers who already make more than most people. Wait til you do your taxes and you are missing another $1.000 or more ! Make sure you tell Joe Precinct guy how grateful you are to Quinn and the Democrats.

The ward office has almost zero people who knock on doors anymore..The last ones were Hynes people and the Hynes are gone out of the 19th ward as we all know.

Now they just run around putting signs on peoples lawns that don't even ask for them. Couple of my neighbors and I each had Hurley signs put on our lawns. Had to throw them in recycle bin.
