October question of the month-Tom Dart.

Several BIG NAMES have announced that they are running for mayor. Our home grown Tom Dart has not said anything yet. What should he do?

Commit to one job or the other! If Dart wants to be sheriff, he should not run for Mayor. If he wants to be Mayor, he should resign the Sheriff's job and run!

Obama completely neglected the Senate job while he ran for President. We don't need that again.

Dart should wait four more years to run, he cannot win now, whomever wins with a soon to be bankrupt city of Chicago, that mayor will be a one timer, the next mayor will be the Chump to take all the hits on the chin for the sins of the city over the past 25 years.
    I say wait!

    A seen on Shaved

Attorney Burt Odelson, a noted elction-law expert, is predicting Rahm Emanuel will be ineligible for mayor because he is not a legal resident of Chicago.

Odelson told Roe and Roeper on WLS Radio that when Emanuel leased out his Chicago home he could no longer claim he is a resident.

“He rented his house out in Sept 09 and has not been back since and has no residency in Chicago,” Odelson said.

Odelson says he has been involved in several residency cases in Illinois that “the law is clear.” (source: WLS-AM)

The people of Chicago don't want Rahm. Rahm has a hard time understanding that.

You know to be honest, the people of Chicago want Mayoral want a be's to be long time residents of Chicago and someone who has paid his or her dues in Chicago politics.

Rahm's total time as a resident of Chicago is a couple of years at best. He's a rich kid from the North Shore.

He should run. It will be good for this neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete

He should not run because rahm will kick his ass and send him home crying.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Anonymous10/04/2010

I take that back, none of the $2,000 would go to Madigan. But for every job you got through Dart, 5 would get hired from Madigan's ward, for $500 and 10% of their annual gov't salary would go to Madigan in the form of "tickets"...

All I see are names of people running. What do they plan to do to our city? Names don't mean anything anymore. What are you going to do to repair city finances? Stop corruption, how? Make safer neighborhoods with equal protection under the law? Stop Rev.'s from dictating political promotions and hirings? City contracts and pensions? Overtaxed and fee'd to death residents want to hear your plans? No plans, no vote!

Dart can Run for mayor if he chooses because the Joyce’s are out of power Now, since things are left to "pickle Joyce" now....what a joke! Pickle is The laughing stock of Beverly country club.
Joyce can’t beat Madigan who is supporting Matt O'Shea for Alderman and he can’t stop Tom Dart for running for mayor, so Basically Pickle is politically (maybe literally) Impotent, one may say “Irrelevant”?

Rahm Emanuel is just a carpetbagger. Tossed out of Washington he has nowhere to go but come to Chicago and bother us. His arrival back here is the result of a deal between Daley and Eric Holder. help Rahm get elected mayor and we wont indict Patrick and some of the nephews, for the crimes they committed. Because of that deal, the Daleys are burning up the phone lines paving the way for Rahm. One of the obstacles standing in the way of Rahm is Tom Dart. You can bet your ass that the forces of evil will do whatever is in their power to buy Dart off.

Rahm does not deserve the job, he grew up in the northern burbs and lived most of the last 20 years in Washington as an aide to Clinton and later as a congressman. His house in Chicago is merely a formality so that he could run for congress.

His management style is bully bully bully. It's most effective on wimps and those who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Will Rahm be good for Chicago? No.

They had NO PROBLEM slandering John Somerville and his wife of whom happens to be African American, the Joyce Klan had no problem calling his wife the "N" word and making sure the red neck Beverly and Mt. Greenwood folks all knew Mr. Somerville’s wife was black during the election.

So what gives? What’s so different now in the Joyce Klan?

Old man Hynes didn't like Dart because he was a threat to Danny Boy's Political Future.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous10/07/2010

The previous blogger is VERY correct in his/her assessment,
Hynes does not like dart, he uses people, when dart was good for him in early 90's he loved him, but when his son Danny "boy" Hynes and Jeremiah Joyce’s son "Kevin" became of age to run for office, they, messieurs Joyce and Hynes; rightfully viewed Tom Dart as a threat to "THEIR" throne, they pushed him to vacate his elected post and to run state wide against Judy Barr for comptroller and then pulled all their resources support and foot soldiers from doing any work for Tom Dart, the last 6 weeks of the election.
Outcome, Kevin Joyce won his election; Dan Hynes won his election, BUT: Tom Dart LOST in nearly every mirrored district map where Joyce and Hynes had won, Tom Dart was left unemployed and homeless and guess what the pissed on him after for a few years…all to “make him Humble” the meetings and the conversations these guys; messieurs Joyce and Hynes engaged in post election were shocking. Terrible arrogance as I reflect on this now.
Oh well watch your back Mr. Dart you’re a good kid, don’t get played again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous10/07/2010

Most of the facts in the above post are accurate. I would like to add one more fact. Dart was very aware of why he lost in 2002. He immediately began plotting payback. In 2004 there would be a Dan Hynes running for US Senate. It was at the direct urging of Tom Dart that one Barack Obama decided to run for the senate seat. The rest is history.

It can be said that if old man Hynes had treated Tom Dart with some respect, perhaps Dan Hynes would be president today.

The Cook County sheriff's police apologized Friday to an elderly couple hours after some two dozen gun-toting officers burst into their Southwest Side home late at night in a mistaken search for drugs and guns.

Anna Jakymec, 84, was just going to bed at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the heavily armed officers broke through the back and front doors at their modest yellow-brick bungalow a few blocks east of Midway Airport. Her ailing husband, Andrij, 89, had already been in bed for hours.

Their son, Andrew, said they were terrified by what they thought was a home invasion.

The errant raid was a public relations embarrassment for Sheriff Tom Dart, who is mulling a run for mayor of Chicago.

An informant had misled sheriff's police to suspect cocaine and amphetamines were stored at the home, according to a copy of a search warrant left with the couple and a spokesman for Dart.

"I think the most potent drug they have is aspirin," their son said.

By Friday afternoon, Deputy Chief Mike Smith delivered a personal apology to the family, the son said.

Plans are underway for two park projects in the 19th Ward to be funded with Tax Increment Financing (TIF) money.

The Chicago Park District’s Board of Commissioners voted on Sept. 15 to approve an agreement with the city of Chicago to accept the transfer of a little more than $31.6 million in TIF money for the reimbursement of funding for various projects, including the renovation of Blackwelder Park, 11500 S. I'm sure you realize that Ridge Country Club is a PRIVATE club,so no, there isn't a golf course in the ward for everyone's use. Anyone can't just come along and tie up a golf course for most of the day at a private club, leaving paying members unable to use a course. It's a big deal to have that kind of event at a country club. Also, fundraisers are usually held at public courses because they are less expensive. Third, perhaps you had difficulty with reading comprehension, but I said two courses were needed for O'Shea's fundraiser. A two-course location is not available in the ward.

LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE IS TRYING TO DO A NUMBER ON TOM DART.

    October 9, 2010

Are the long knives already out in the race for Chicago mayor? And is Tom Dart an early target?

    You be the judge.

    Carol Marin

Personally, I think this is a great little story.

A copy of an official letter recently landed on the doorsteps of at least a couple of reporters and at least one rival mayoral campaign.

It casts a negative light on Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, one of the most high profile of the potential contenders for Mayor Daley's job.

The letter is a "Notice of Legal Action" from the Illinois Department of Labor. And it cites Dart's office with "your failure to pay (32) employees . . . wages and benefits under the Illinois Minimum Wage Law."

Now, anybody who hasn't lived under a rock most of his life knows that paying substandard wages is hardly a positive plank of any candidate's campaign. Unions, for sure, would hit the warpath.

But the timing of this letter, not to mention its quiet dissemination, makes it all the more interesting.

It is dated Sept. 27. Just 20 days after Mayor Daley's fateful announcement that he would not seek a seventh term.

Now, I'm not suggesting that state government has a horse in this mayor's race. It looks like this dispute, brought by 32 sheriff's department employees, has been in the pipeline for a while and traveling a normal bureaucratic course.

And yet, isn't it interesting that just days after Dart's office received this official warning letter, a copy of it was circulating out in the churning, contentious world of mayoral politics?

Mayoral candidate Gery Chico says his campaign received a copy. "It looked like it was a little suspicious," he said Friday morning by phone. Chico ordered his staff not to pursue it and to stick to issues instead.

Who's behind the circulation of this letter?

    Chico said he didn't know.

Dart said he doesn't know either. But he hopes whoever is sending it around, on behalf of whichever candidate might benefit, will also hear his side of the story.

Those 32 employees who claim that Dart won't pay them minimum wage are some of his canine officers who handle drug- and bomb-sniffing dogs.

They are demanding almost $300,000 in back wages.

    Why?

"Those canine handlers were looking to be paid on the weekends to groom their dogs," Dart said. "Our canine people do a phenomenal job . . . and they take their dogs home . . . but for the taxpayers to be paying [for dog grooming] on someone's days off, I thought, was absurd. You have to draw the line somewhere."

Courts could ultimately decide where that line is.

But in politics, that line is always a bit blurry. And often a touch ugly.

I'm not going to speculate on who might want to dirty Dart up in the mayor's race. The fact is that with two dozen possible candidates, it could be any one of them. Or someone entirely different. Everyone who has been in politics has enemies.

What this little tale does demonstrate, however, is that Dart is -- to use a military term -- a "high-value target."

He is viewed as a contender. A potential front-runner even without announcing he's running.

And as we go about determining the temperature and tone of the mayor's race to come, this might be a forecast of what's heading our way.

I admit to not being as well versed as I should be regarding the 2007 democratic takeover of Congress, but I know that lying sack of shit got us involved in 2 wars over a bullshit premise of non existent weapons of mass destruction. There's more than 4000 dead U.S soldiers and countless more wounded as a result. This collateral damage, brought to the attention of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld brought the following response, "So?".

So don't give any more bullshit about the republicans, or for that matter, that little queer Mark Kirk.

New York (CNN) -- New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino criticized gays Sunday, saying he didn't want children "to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid or successful option," compared to heterosexuality.

"It isn't," Paladino said at a stop in Brooklyn, New York.

A prepared version of his remarks obtained by CNN from New York affiliate NY1 said that "There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual," though Paladino did not wind up delivering that line.

And then we have Daley naming Huberman school supt. Huberman is hardly a positive role model for children. This is what Daley appointed. We should have known that Daley had lost his mind that day.

I always vote Democratic ever since my ancestors came over here from Ireland in 1851.

I don't care if their name is Karl Marx or Joseph Stalin I always vote democratic.Jimmy Carter was the smartest American I ever have known here.

Redistribute the wealth so the rich are eliminated.

Erase the American Dream of working hard to get ahead. How dare those people make more than me.

National health care for America so we can add 20% to our sales tax.

Great place America, you can redesign it to look a lot like Bolshevism.

Why? because he's from the 19th ward? what has he done to deserve being mayor? All he cares about is himself! He was ruined the sherif's dept. You people who live in the 19th ward think the city and world revolves around you . How about voting for someone who will be the best for the job. not for someone just because they live in your ward. wake up already

Wow a lot of negative remarks about Dart, Hynes, Joyce families. I guess the old saying that I'm sure your parents taught you about if you have nothing good to say about someone then don't say anything you all did not take seriously. Why not keep the comments to what the topic is about. I'd vote for Dart but I'd rather see him wait till the until the next election. The incoming Mayor has his hands full.

KIRK MAY LOOK LIKE A FRUIT, BUT HE WASENT A 19TH WARD DRAFT DODGER DURING VIET NAM EITHER.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous10/13/2010

Mark Kirk was born September 15, 1959. On his 18th birthday, the year would have been 1977.

I thought South Vietnam fell in April 30th of 1975? We didn't send any combat soldiers over to Vietnam after mid 1972.

No one was drafted born after 1955. Do your home work.
