PNC Bank

PNC Bank has announced that they are consolidating their operations on Western Ave. and moving everything into the branch on the corner of 107th and Western.  The building  at 10731 S. Western Ave. is not needed and will be sold.

What steps can be taken now to ensure that the next use of the property contributes to the vitality of our neighborhood?  The last thing we need is another Border's.

There is always a chance that buildings like this and Borders could be converted into churches. Probably not a good thing.

Gotta wonder why any business would want to establish a presence at 107th and Western. It's a decayed neighborhood.

It's experienced some decay because people like the above poster don't suppoert area businesses. The per capita income of this neighborhood is off the charts.

Many of us do not feel safe on or near Western Avenue.

A business might establish a presence in that area to serve the doctors, lawyers, accountants, brokers, architects, etc. who live in huge, beautiful houses and send their kids to expensive schools. It's hardly a decayed neighborhood. You sound bitter about something. You probably work for the city. If you don't, please move to Alsip where you'll fit in better.

As a victim of a crime on Western Ave, I understand not feeling safe there. I still shop Western but never alone. I would like to see a stronger police presence there to let would be criminals to scram. Either that or let me carry.

This place would make a great church or drive through funeral home.

I would expect that Ald. O'Shea is aware of the potential problem and is taking steps to protect the neighborhood.
