Joe Biden vows to take on systemic racism and beat the crap out of the police

Why haven’t you addressed this systemic racism before now? Why didn’t you address it during your tenure as Vice President? Oh yeah, it’s an election year. Gotta put some spin on your campaign.

“Joe Biden vowed to address institutional racism in his first 100 days in office as he sought
to elevate his voice Monday in the exploding national debate over racism and police brutality.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee offered emotional support and promised bold action during an in-person discussion with black leaders in Delaware and a subsequent virtual meeting with big-city mayors who are grappling with racial tensions and frustrated by a lack of federal support.
“Hate just hides. It doesn’t go away, and when you have somebody in power who breathes oxygen into the hate under the rocks, it comes out from under the rocks,” Biden told more than a dozen African American leaders gathered at a church in downtown Wilmington, his face mask lowered around his chin as he spoke.
Without offering specifics, he promised to “deal with institutional racism” and set up a police oversight body in his first 100 days in office, if elected.”
The Democrats benefit(ted) from systemic, endemic and structural racism. :-\

Look at the changing communities, during his tenure, including Englewood, Woodlawn, Lawndale, Garfield Park and many more. Daley I had power to stop redlining and panic peddling. He didn't do anything, because he knew he'd receive the Black vote. :-\

Historically in the US, male nude swimming was common in the YMCAs, CYOs, JCCs and male only swim classes. This ended by 1980, due to pedos, students' rights and feminists taking over YMCAs and raising sons. 😑
ReplyDeleteProtesters-Demonstrators-Rioters. Anybody here recall the months preceeding the '68 Convention? Remember the Chicago Seed? The Chicago Seven and their exhortations to come to Chicago to protest the American involvement in the Viet Nam war? And a few years later the Weatherman Riots in downtown Chicago. Ironic that one of the fomenters of those destructive "Days of Rage" now draws an Illinois State pension and that his unapologetic spouse holds a position at Northwestern University. Both provided Obama with counsel when he considered running for President. And look what they spawned. Social upheaval not relevant to racial equality but rather dissolving the middle class and the rules most of us live by to get along in society and provide safe haven for our kids.
ReplyDeleteWhen I watched the news this evening I saw more and more video clips of rioters, looters, vandals. I saw the guy from Galesburg with the gold teeth, bragging on his self filmed Facebook posts about throwing incendiaries at police, at trashng buildings, bragging about being tear gassed. I watched the Mayor of Los Angeles take a knee with the protesters and turn around and speak about defunding the police to the tune of $150 million dollars in order to take those funds and distribute them to social entitlement programs. Lets stop there for a moment. And lets be clear. For all the talk of racism, which dilutes itself with every mention, African Americans make up about 13-15% of the country's population. Most residents in our community are 3rd or 4th generation Americans whose ancestors arrived here somewhere in the latter part of the 19th century. A safer assumption would be to state that few, if any had ancestors that were slave owners. Rather, a good percentage of them fled countries with oppressive governments that restricted land ownership, religious freedom and career opportunities. What little they had was seized and many fled here to avoid extermination.
And many of our ancestors, once arriving here, faced discrimination similar to what African Americans tell us about today. The Chicago Tribune, in the early 20th century depicted Irish as big eared, leprechaunish drunken dwarfs. "NO IRISH NEED APPLY" was almost a cliche. I mention this because now there's a move afoot to provide upwards of $350,000 in reparations to each and every person who can demonstrate an ancestor was a slave. Total estimates of this giveaway are 14 TRILLION dollars. As one whose ancestors never owned another human being, whose grandparents were starved by an oppresive government that seized their property, I reject the reparations idea. The social entitlement programs pitched by FDR and LBJ are and continue to be nothing but democratic "throw some money at them" give aways that de-incentivize and dehumanize the will of a person to better themselves. Repeat, "better themselves", not stick your hand in somebody else's pocket, but do it on your own. Presenting the opportunities to achieve a potential is an idea most should and would support. Sitting on your ass with an expectation of entitlement is not.
This is a time for thought, our own, not media influencers, not FOXNews or MSNBC, or the NY TImes or Washington Post. Its an opportunity for us to look at our own life experience and make judgements for the future as to what is good for our families and communities. It's also a time to respect the individual rights of our neighbors and expect that respect in return. We all have rights, we're all entitled to our opinions. None of us are entitled to force our thoughts and opinions on anyone else. We should always try to make our own decisions and not forfeit that right to others. We might be a lot better off.
