The father of a pregnant woman who went missing last fall says police have hit a “brick wall” in the investigation and is urging people to share any information they have on his daughter.

Kierra Coles, a U.S. Postal Service employee, went missing Oct. 2 after leaving her apartment near 82nd Street and Coles Avenue. At the time, Kierra was three months pregnant and was due to give birth in April.

Joseph Coles, Kierra Coles’ father, held a press conference Monday outside the Richard J. Daley Center
asking for help in finding his daughter and grandchild.

“I tell everyone to come out and support because until it hits your doorstep, you won’t believe it’s true,” said Joseph Coles.

Coles says that since Kierra went missing, he has not stopped trying to find new information and continues to urge the Chicago Police Department to work on the case.

“Do I believe there is more the police should be doing? Yes. But they are telling me they are working on the case,” said Coles.

“I’m going to believe that the same way I believe that she is out there. It’s just a matter of time before we figure out where she is.”

Although the police has not made any arrests, Coles said they believe the father of Kierra’s child and his girlfriend are involved in the disappearance.

CPD declined an interview request seeking an update on the status of the investigation.

A $49,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Members of various missing person and violence support groups attended the news conference to speak alongside Joseph Coles.

Vera Giles Norris, founder of Missing Please Come Home, has been working with the Coles family to bring attention to Kierra’s case.

“Even though it has been nine months, we have been making noise for nine months,” Norris said.

“We have been demanding justice for nine months and the community is coming out. They are marching, they are sharing information and they are keeping Kierra Coles’ case open and active.”

Joseph Coles said he won’t quit searching.

“We did not have these kids to be taken from us,” he said. “It’s a blessing that I am here today to come and continue to look for my daughter.”

  1. How is it that these folks just get to set up press conferences wherever they damn well please?

Actually, if you follow their track record, they are looking for a payday.
