Mayor Lightfoot slams Chicago police union while pushing for reforms

By Mike Flannery

CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - A leader of the police officers’ union gave Mayor Lori Lightfoot a public tongue-lashing at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, and the mayor gave it right back to him.

Leaders of the police union have vowed to block virtually all of the key changes Mayor Lightfoot wants to make to their collective bargaining contract. Escalating the conflict, the union's first vice president went to the City Council to scold the mayor to her face.

“You will have difficulty achieving your goals, if you do not include us and our members support,” Patrick Murray said. “if you want to sit there and talk to us, I don't have a problem.”

If the Fop, or for that matter any of the city's unions think they're dealing with a pushover they're mistaken. The CPD most definitely has taken a major beating by the press and the locals Pols and a lot of it undeserved, however Lightfoot is wildly popular with today's public and so far seems to have reined in the City Council. You can guarantee the CPD contract will only be settled by an arbitrator. Too bad

If you lose the working cops, not the meritoriously promoted never wassus, you lose the city. That is very dangerously near happening. The little hitler thinks she can insult the only entity that prevents this burg from mogadishu better check her hole card.
