A Message from Alderman O'Shea

From Alderman O'Shea 8:32pm 1/1/17
There were two separate shooting incidents in the 19th Ward early this morning, both related to New Year's Eve house parties. Based on preliminary information provided by the Chicago Police Department, one incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the 9500 block of South Hamilton, where an individual was shot outside of a home that was hosting a party. The victim was grazed and subsequently refused medical attention.
The other incident occurred on the 11200 block of South Longwood at approximately 3:45 a.m., where one victim was shot outside of a home. Two other shooting victims, who were believed to be at the party at the Longwood location, were found a short time later near the intersection of Monterey and Vincennes Avenues. All the victims have been hospitalized. None of the victims from either shooting incident are residents of the 19th Ward.
CPD is conducting ongoing investigations into the shootings, though no arrests have been made. If you have any information that may be pertinent to either incident, please contact the police by calling 9-1-1. We will provide you with more details as they become available. Moving forward, all 19th Ward residents are encouraged to contact the police if they see any suspicious activities or if your block experiences any unruly parties or gatherings.
Sincerely, Matthew J. O'Shea, Alderman, 19th Ward
