I would love to hear the cabbies perspective on this dirty deal

Uber service cleared for pickups at airport as Rahm drives home for his brother.

You will soon be able to get an Uber at Chicago airports, Navy Pier, and McCormick Place. The deal comes after weeks of negotiations between cabbies, Uber drivers, and the city of Chicago.
Everyone in this battle was motivated by money. Cab drivers say they are losing money, while Uber drivers naturally did not want to pay extra. And finally, the city of Chicago needs money to get out of debt.
The final deal heading to the City Council would charge ridesharing drivers 52 cents a trip. Some of that money will be given to Chicago’s traditional taxi drivers to help them pay fees.

A ride-hailing giant whose investors include Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s brother came out a big winner Monday after Emanuel salvaged his plan to give Uber, Lyft and Sidecar the lucrative right to make airport pickups without requiring their drivers to get chauffeur licenses.

“Trust me. I did not back off. I fought tooth and nail. We went in the room and we negotiated and we compromised,” said Ald. Anthony Beale, chairman of the City Council Transportation Committee.

“I would not say it’s a total compromise, but it’s a huge, huge step in the right direction to bringing parity to these two industries that are trying to co-exist.”

One of Obama's pals is a VP at Uber. From Politico:

"[David Plouffe] was the architect of the long-shot bid to make Barack Obama the president . . . .The Uber.com blog post announcing Plouffe’s hiring as senior vice president for policy and strategy in August talked about “Uber the Candidate.”

Hope and Change or just Liberal insiders making money?

    We fingerprint taxi drivers.
We will never fingerprint Uber drivers because many of them are here illegally.

And what's the going price for those medallions riveted to the hood of licensed cabs?
