Too Little Too Late? There is something about these cameras that rubs me the wrong way.

EMANUEL DECIDES TO TAKE DOWN 50 MORE RED LIGHT CAMERAS in a bid to outpace chuy.

I know the city needs the revenue but have they tried the unique approach of cutting expenditures?

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Sunday that Chicago will remove 50 red light cameras at 25 intersections throughout the city. No more tickets were to be issued based on what cameras saw at those intersections as of 12:01 a.m. Friday, March 6, according to a release from the mayor's office.
Emanuel's office took down 36 red light cameras at 18 intersections in October 2015. At that time, Emanuel pointed to the safety issue.
“Automated traffic enforcement, whether through red-light or speed cameras, is about changing drivers’ behavior,” said Mayor Emanuel.  “The cameras at these intersections are now showing a low level of crashes and dangerous angle crashes, which means an enhanced level of safety."
The Chicago Tribune has an interactive map available for browsing HERE.
Emanuel faces a stiff re-election challenge in April from Chuy Garcia, who recently came out opposed to redlight cameras.

Speed Cameras are more fraud than red light http://www.timeout.com/chicago/blog/red-light-cameras-are-a-pain-but-speed-cameras-are-much-worse

Still do not understand them. Can someone explain to me why the camera on 103rd is located where it is at? It says it's for "park speed limit" but why is it located just off Western Ave? The other one faces east in front of the Beverly Bank employee parking lot. Is this a red light camera? It just doesn't make sense. Seems more revenue generated then anything else.

It amazes me what happens during an election year.
