While I was gone:
  • Rugai era streets deteriorated at an accelerated rate with potholes galore. Worst hit was Longwood Drive, 99th st. and 103rd st. City crews have been on them.
  • The Benny Baby founder was sentenced to probation after he was caught trying to evade income taxes.
  • The Cubs have a new mascot.
  • Duck Dynasty continued to be the hottest show on TV.
  • There was a police chase in Mt. Greenwood after a carload of African men cut and ran.
  • There seems to have been a lockdown at Mt. Greenwood school after a man entered and began to remove his clothes, due to him being hot. The incident was at first called a "lockdown drill". Only to be called a "lockdown" after there were calls on social media for full disclosure.
  • Bill Cunningham announced a Town Hall meeting for police on Jan 21, where he will again attempt to trick them into believing that he has their back. The event will not be well attended as the police now know that the only ones that have their backs are the other police (and a few firemen).
  • Seattle and Denver were favored to be in the Superbowl.
  • The principal at Sutherland found out her contract will not be renewed next year.
  • 5 people were injured when a shelf of 2X4's collapsed at the new Menards in E.P.
  • More snow and zero temps moved in just as I arrived back.

    that's a pretty good recap!
what happened at Mt. greenwood school? I did hear a few neighbors saying something about a crazy guy threatening to kill a teacher? also heard the principle and the Alderman and Police, first thought it better to try to cover this up rather then tell the PARENTS what hapedned!!!!!!!

why hasn't the news media picked this up

Don't blame the alderman or the police for this.

With all the tax revenue generated from our Ward, (which probably eclipses the entire area east of us all the way to the lakefront), we seem to get shorted on cops, city services, leaf pickup, and snow removal....add pot holes to the list.
I realize that all Chicagoans deserve to have these same services - and that no Ward should be given less, but that includes us too Matt ! We used to vote for you guys because you took care of us......what happened ?

99th Street is terrible. I have had to drive downtown and could not believe how crappy it is. I feel we deserve better than a few guys shoveling asphalt into holes to "fix" the problem. We can "fix" the problem if the citizens of Chicago would stop sticking their hands out asking for more and more....and that goes for the city workers as well as the welfare Link Card class.

Jansons isn't going to open, The brewery land is for sale, Baraccos must of had a bad trip on LSD and made a public comment that they wanted to open a business in the 19th ward. Buena Beef is no where to be found.

I surely would blame the alderman's office, if they had knowledge, which they did... and did not inform the parents or the neighbors, then they are equally culpable of trying to cover the lock down at Mt greenwood elementary up!

    1. Why don't you try blaming the Board of Education.
