Snow Removal

Judging from the conditions in the nearby suburbs, the city of Chicago's response to the snow storm has been excellent. Thank you to all involved.

    I agree.

The Tollway and Alsip were bad. When I hit the city limits, Chicago was smooth sailing.

    Nice work S and S.

The mayor wants the streets clear so people will speed and tickets will be issued. Its all about more revenue.

PLEASE HAVE THE PLOWS RETURN TO 110TH & 110TH PLACE AROUND CLISSOLD SCHOOL. DID A BAD JOB, DEEP RUTS AND THEY PUT NO SALT DOWN. DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR PARENTS DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS...

All city workers did a great job under terrible conditions. Remember it was a record cold couple of days ....unheard of temperatures around here. Even the salt would not melt the snow and so only so much could be done so quickly. Once the weather moderates a bit I am sure the side streets will be handled.

    1. Sometimes I think that posters should be required to submit their names.

  5. All the Streets and San & Water Dept workers should get a huge well done. Well done!

Yes I agree. However, the 19th Ward can be extremely petty and vindictive. That is why I am anonymous. For now at least : )

Salt is not effective in such frigid temperatures. Even early this afternoon the temperature was too cold for salt to work. Considering the extent of the weather, I think city crews did a great job. Just because every street isn't snow-free doesn't mean they didn't do a great job.

I was wondering why the plows are not doing the streets on Washtenaw and Fairfield between 99th and 103rd, since Talman was cleaned all the way down to the asphalt? So I called the ward office and asked why they haven't been done. I was told that Talman was a CFD emergency route. I know that it's not the truth because I worked for the CFD for 34 yrs. It's great that they can lie and think nothing about it when they hang up the phone. I guess if you don't know someone in the office that your on the bottom of the list.
