Sequestration

OBAMA GROUP SPREADS PANIC MESSAGE OVER 2.3 PERCENT FEDERAL BUDGET CUTS

CHICAGO - Obama's old campaign network that has been transformed into Organizing for Action - based in Chicago - and its director Jim Messina is trying the new OFA's wings out by sending out a panic-toned message on sequestration (below). The group has declared they plan to use the Obama network to promote grassroots efforts on the Administration's behalf. Republicans haven't responded in kind yet.

Friend:
Brace yourself.
If congressional Republicans don't act by tomorrow, we're going to be hit by a series of devastating, automatic budget cuts called the sequester.

It's a sledgehammer to the budget, our economy, and millions of Americans across the country -- and the most frustrating part? It doesn't have to happen.

The majority of Americans support President Obama's balanced approach to deficit reduction -- add your name if you do, too.

So far, congressional Republicans are refusing to compromise -- all because they don't want to close tax loopholes for millionaires, billionaires, vacation homes, and corporate jets. Seriously.

This has very real consequences.

On the chopping block are 10,000 teaching jobs, more than 70,000 kids' spots in Head Start, $35 million for local fire departments, $43 million to make sure seniors don't go hungry, and access to nutrition assistance for 600,000 women and their families. That's just a few of the things we'll lose.

President Obama has put forth a balanced deficit reduction plan with smart spending cuts that protect the critical investments needed to strengthen middle-class families and our economy.

We need to send a strong signal about where Americans stand on this issue.

Thanks,

Messina

If the government cant cut back 2.5% or so - temporarily, why do they feel we should pay higher taxes and fees...(especially after Obama spending orgy has raised the bar on how much we spend dramatically). It is as if you just increased your personal spending by 20 percent for four years and now someone is asking you to cut back by 3% !! I do not believe the doom and glooom sky is falling progaganda by the Socialist in Chief and his comrades. Time to put the government on a spending diet!

The GAO says the actual figure is more like $44 billion not $80 billion the media is spreading around. Of this only about half or $22 Billion is domestic spending....(this is less than half we just spent on Hurrican Sandy relief). Congressman Sessions says that Obamas golf outing last weekend cost the equivalent of 340 furloughed govt workers...This guy is becoming a serious joke !! Based on an annual budget of $4.6 TRILLION dollars - it is like a 1.7% cut. Why cant the govt do without 1.7% of OUR money when we just got socked with a 2% hike on our withholding taxes last month! Sick. And the media are the sickest frauds of all.

Looks like hundres of thousands will lose their jobs because we allowed politicians to borrow for everything. 85 billion is nothing compared to the nations debt service.

Its time for the States to step up and start shrinking the Federal Government. It is just too big.

Anyone on this blog -- shrink the federal government? You first. No more home mortgage deductions. How about it? Are you willing to wait longer for your social security payment?

The government just expanded in an orgy of spending increases over the past four Obamayears.....Why would you have to wait longer for your social security payment? If you are a fool hoping for the inverted pyramid of the social security ponzi scheme to pay your bills in old age you are a fool. And by your logic then, we can never, ever ever, even for one year, or month, STOP expanding the government? Do you spend 40 percent more than YOU take into your household, month after month, year after year, adding to your credit cards endlessly, and you dont expect consequences? Your scare tactics might work at the local pub, or with your union hall buddies, but we fear a leviathan government far more than a tax write off.

Obama and Democratic Socialists have one and only one solution to any fiscal issue: MORE. More spending , more taxes. Obama just twisted arms to get the wealthier (more successful) of us to pay 4 percent more. Just less than two months ago! AND he allowed the payroll taxes to go back up on EVERYBODY!!! This after he looked into the camera and promised not to "balance the budget on the backs of middle class folks". So every 90 days or so we will need a new tax? Always be careful when you hear a policitician (yes Obama is a politician), call people "folks". Get ready for a kick to the crotch.
