Alderman Matt O'Shea put this out yesterday:

Yesterday afternoon, the Chicago Fire Department responded to a 3-11 alarm blaze at a five-story building at 2030 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park. Approximately 120 fire personnel and 40 pieces of fire equipment were dispatched to put out the fire and secure the location. After several hours, the fire was contained; though the building is uninhabitable, all residents and fire personnel are safe.

Unfortunately, nearly 70 of our neighbors are currently displaced, many of them have lost everything. After consulting with the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and the impacted residents, State Representative Monique Davis and I are working together to provide assistance to those in need. We are asking for donations in the form of gift cards to retailers including Target, Kohl's, Jewel, Walgreens, or Visa gift cards. Donations are being accepted at my office, 10400 S. Western Ave., and Rep. Davis's Office, 1234 W. 95th St. Thank you in advance for your generous support of neighbors touched by tragedy this holiday season.
