Democratic Platform

TOP 12 REASONS TO VOTE DEMOCRAT during this convention week

Something to think about:
  1. I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my German Shepherd.
  2. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.
  3. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
  4. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as no-one is offended by it.
  5. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
  6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.
  7. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
  8. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the social security from those who paid into it.
  9. I voted Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.
  10. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
  11. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions for their oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher or fish.
  12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my a**, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

I think he will. Romney will win in a landslide. The swing voters who voted for Obama last election will not vote for him again.

    2. Today Romney removed his on-air ads in Michigan and Pennsylvania, basically conceding in those states. A landslide? Not so much.

Ahh, the elation of low expectation. Bubba was owned by George Soros and the big banksters from the time he was governor. His last charade was to repeal Glass Steagall which opened the door for subprime debt and landed us where we are today.
Ignorance is bliss. Why do 19th ward dummycrats continue to line up behind bullshit spewing politicians like Clinton, Obama, Rahm, Quinn, Madigan, Dart, O"Shea, Cullerton, as well as Barney Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Rangle, Bloomberg, ..........
Oh yeah, to get me a pension!

Compared to Obama I would have to agree. But as this convention is themed around the fake "war on women" it is a little off message to use a guy accused of various dalliances, affairs, mistreatment of and possibly abusing his power position over women - not to mention coining the phrase "a Lewinsky" and the stained blue dress.
Also, the degree to which Clinton succeeded as President is measured by the degree to which he adopted traditionally Republican positions. He was also alot smarter than our current President O. Even Newt said Clinton used to call him all the time, often at midnight or later....he knew how to do his job and lead...the current Boza in Chief is a rank amateur.

    5. One of you anonymous, the point about Glass-Steagall repeal under Clinton is a good one. It DID open the way to the current recession via banks and investment houses securitizing everything but their suits.

You know - you really believe in this whole Republican v. Democrat b.s.

    # 1 you can marry dogs under the Republican control of the executive. How do you think you married your wife?

    # 2 only a little guy like you defends oil companies. I do not even see oil company executives/investors defend themselves to the extent that working class and lower-middle class Republicans do. A friend of mine believe it or not was both a housing developer and an oil investor. He still lives in Chicago up north. It is how I learned that they put cement into the wells and there is more oil in Southern IL than in middle eastern countries. It is how I learned that we get our oil from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela, not all that much from the middle. How I learned that there is oil everywhere and you can suck it all up, even under your own. That refining capacity is artificially low to keep oil profits high: that is the bottle neck.

Oil investors/executives think you are a fool, and you are foolish to defend them. Seriously, you are foolish to defend them; they do not give a damn about you. At all. Go meet some of them.

    # 3 it was Reagan (repeat: Ronald Reagan) who created the massive debt that we live with today. It was Bush that gave hundreds of billions of immediate tax cuts and trillions of tax cuts for the wealthy (who were already taxed at "preferred" rates). My God, man, you really buy into their b.s. Not saying the Democrats' b.s. is any better, but you really go out of your way here.

    # 4 Democrats are absolutely stronger advocates for free speech than Republicans, generally.

    # 5 This is just too stupid. I have to stop.

If you even believe some of what you wrote, and I stopped at # 5, then there is no point in my even attempting to respond to you.

Yes - the federal debt INCREASED under Reagan and Bush the Elder (who raised taxes to combat it) and DECREASED under Clinton. Even more, it was Clinton who had a budget SURPLUS.

Please do not think I am an Obama supporter. I just do not know how or why Republicans are considered "fiscal conservatives" - the mind boggles!

Now Barack can give Putin whatever he said to wait after the election. We threw those Jews in Israel and Poles under the bus. We are 16 trillion in the hole and Barry wants to raise taxes for more windmills. Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn will get cabinet posts. We will all be on food stamps pretty soon AND your unemployed grandson will be moving into your basement with his unemployed dad

Yeah looks impressive...sounds impressive too...just governs poorly. He has failed with 8.3% unemployed and a terribly higher number of people seriously under employed..saw some old friends at a wedding reception the other day...WORKING as bartenders...otherwise out of work...also saw some kids who recently graduated from U of I with good degrees - busing tables..look around everywhere you go there are "Obama Board Ups"...the grave markers of dead jobs...Heard O say he was going to cut the deficit (next time)...blamed two wars (which he has kept us in for 4 years). How many times in the past 4 years of Obama have you driven down a street somewhere and noticed - "oh..that store is closed now too huh?"..Union propaganda does not pay the union tradesmen who are NOT working in this ward....Thanks Obama...

Notice the Obamanauts are talking about Ronald Reagan? They have nothing to say for their empty suit President...unemployment HIGHER....gas prices HIGHER...food costs HIGHER...Debt HIGHER....taxes, well once Obamacare kicks in we will all pay "our fair share"
Obama may be able to deliver a good speech (though this one was not so good), but he has been a failed President too arrogant and unprepared to lead.

My oreos still taste the same to me and I forgot that when a REpublican is President of course everything is his fault...when a Democrat is President it is also the Republican's fault. To sum it up the President and Democrats re election strategy is "it is not my fault"....if i worked somewhere for 4 years and productivity and profits were bad under me...i dont think i would be in the office of my boss getting a raise...I would probably be gathering up my personal effects and ushered out....like we will do to Obama in 60 days..

  9. again people this is not class warfare. they change the subject to keep you from all the facts. the biggest fact is, we spend to much. I don't care about the 1% ers against the other 99%. when theynre done roasting the "rich" guess who is next ????????. vote with your wallet and not with your emotions. take a stand now and show them we mean business

    ReplyDelete

    1. Anonymous9/07/2012

We do spend too much. But on what? Defense.

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, Safety Net Programs are all self-funded. In fact, they generate a SURPLUS of money, which then is transferred---some say illegally---from the trust fund to the general fund.

Our entire budget is national defense and interest on debt. Worse, Afghanistan, Iraq, special ops., etc. are considered "off budget." Therefore, the amount spent in this category is even higher.

We should nevertheless bomb Iran for our liberty and safety, anything less would mean that Israel is "thrown under the bus." It really is mind boggling.

Yet, Republicans talk about "fiscal responsibility" and will defend tax breaks for oil companies, corporate jet owners, and hedge fund managers. But! Your already paid for social security benefits, those are you are "entitled" to, must be cut because we spend too much. As soon as the trust fund was not providing a surplus to pay for tax breaks for oil companies and defense contractors, it is suddenly "insolvent" and reform means that you keep paying into it but those under 45 get reduced benefits.

It is not that I like the Democrats; I just see the Republicans as far worse. I dislike both of them and will probably not even vote - at all. I am just telling you to be better informed about both parties.

  10. Two things:

@waterbill: "roasting the rich"? You mean so they pay the same rate they paid under Clinton? Do you have any idea what they paid under Eisenhower?

-- in general, to all the rightists and Tea Partiers on the site: it comes out now that Obama and Boehner had almost worked out a huge deal that would've involved huge deficit reduction and needed adjustments in SS and Medicare, with additional revenue sources. Who blinked? BOEHNER. Why? BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID OF HIS OWN "TEA" PARTY. So for numbnuts who voted in empty suits like Joe Walsh, level the fire of your criticism at the right target.

Thatis not what Woodward said. His explanation was that there was a deal Boehner was willing to accept and then at the eleventh hour - Obama wanted to get 800 million or so more in "revenue" - (that means taxes to those who work in the private sector). Obama blew the deal...also try to read a little more...Even Nancy Pelosi put Obama on "mute" when he called them durning their negotiations in order to admonish them like the lecturer he is. He has never even managed a lemonade stand - and it shows !

    2. I'm not quoting Woodward, Homer. I'm garnering this from Bill Daley's interview on Charlie Rose, which gave the fuller background to Boehner's hitting the stop button. I would assume Woodward gave the same background, but I wouldn't know. Get up to speed, will ya? Also, what do you know about management, anyway?

The bottom line is more and more it is obvious that the Democrat Party is now an ultra liberal - left of center - socialist leaning party...anybody hear the radio interviewer asking several DNC Electors if they agreed that it would be a good idea to "BAN corporate profits!" Every last one of them said YES !!! Truly the lunatic fringe has taken over my Father's Democratic Party...Not to mention that my own church has had to sue the Federal Government to stop them from mandating we pay for abortions that our church (and basically all Western Civilization has condemned as a despicable practice for over 1,000 yrs) as part of our health care..These people are really zealots... Romney is at least a middle of the road to conservative - ie Traditional American with widely accepted opinions and beliefs about America, the constitution, and society. Try as you might "proud union home" we aint votin for the lefty this time !! If I were the liberal blogger I would go to the welfare office and the college campuses where you can sway some people...or maybe try the old folks home where you may be able to scare some of them into voting for the Socialist Party....not so much here...

God I will be happy when the lefty blogger gets tired of his rants on this site. Nobody cares to hear the Occupy Chicago propaganda and DEmocrat Union Talking Points. We live the private sector every day and Conservatives see things as they are. Take off the pink glasses or maybe it will take you being mugged by an illegal or inner city lifetime offender for you to see the foolishness of liberal policies. They have failed everywhere they have ever been tried. I will quote Ronald Reagan "The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would hire them right away." One more from the Gipper...."
How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."

Marx - "From each according to his ability - to each according to his needs"
Obama - "we need to spread the wealth around"

    1. God will I be happy when the Rightists get tired of their rants on this site. Nobody cares to hear obvious, broadbrush points from people who assume everyone who works in the private sector thinks the same way, or that everyone who disagrees with their point of view is liberal. Big Business doesn't need to hire anyone away from government -- most politicians are already on the payroll (and Reagan knew it).

  14. again, pots you miss the point. you can confiscate everything the "rich "have and it wouldnt last a year the way the government spends. what the tea party has done was to wake up all voters. we control this election by voting out the big spenders and putting the next group on notice. WE THE PEOPLE.... get off the network news. trillion is a really big number....

    1. Again, Waterbill, you have no point to make, just the same tired talking points gleaned from repeated Fox viewing. It wouldn't last a year? See Bill Clinton. You know, the one who gave us a budget surplus. And I wouldn't pat yourself on the back too much. You (the Tea Party) have demonstrated you do control a lot, but as in many things, follow the money. Who benefits from your control?

Does anybody know of a Democrat in America that would advocate taking a governmental budget surplus and using it to retire some of the debt?

When did ignorance become a point of view? Push people's buttons and repeat the same lies often enough and you can get people to drink whatever kool aid you want them to.

Conviction is very important. You can't lie in a halfhearted tone. A lie needs strength in voice commitment and body language. Take Paul Ryan's speech. It was brilliant. He lied on almost every subject, but he was committed, elegant. His lies soared. He is a New Age liar. If he keeps his lying edge, he should be a powerful political figure for years to come.

Take the GOP convention a week ago. I thought there was something truly exhilarating to watch a packed arena of 30 or 40 thousand people cheering the idea of having their healthcare taken away.

They were so convinced by all the lies about healthcare that everyone in the arena was willing to give up all healthcare protection. It was a wonderful sight to see.

And here's the best part: the lies were so well constructed, that you didn't even have to offer an alternative health care plan. Just the idea of not having healthcare was enough to bring the people to their feet. That was a A+ on the lying chart.
It almost brought tears of joy to my eyes.
