Angry Obama Supporters

The cause of black unemployment is not employment of white tradesmen. It's in part a result of Obama's economic policies. He has money for a war but no money for public works? Money for solar energy but nothing for the coal industry? Do you think it's bad now? Wait until Obama has had a few more years at the helm.

    a) We have no money for infrastructure because of brinkmanship and filibuster in the Senate.
    i) Now we have spent so much money on defense/offense both on/off budget, that I am not sure how much room we have to borrow in order to "invest" in our infrastructure.

    b) 40-55% incarceration rate among black males plus 55-75% or so of broken homes among blacks.
    i) no amount of money for education/social programs is going to fix this problem in a culture of violence, deception, theft, and ignorance.
    ii) there are countless not-for-profit organizations such as RainbowPush to "churches" that are tax exempt AND receive (federal, state, and local) grant money.
    iii) Taxing/blaming me more will not help.

    c) Blaming Obama is not fair either. He has expanded the use of our military, which has increased our deficit and debt - yes. But I do not believe electing Romney would change anything at all.

    d) My solution is a different form of quantitative easing:
    1) moratorium on foreclosures for single-family homes and owner-occupied properties of 4-units or less to enable breathing space to achieve loan workouts;
    Explanation 1): when people have "housing insecurity," they do not spend. They hoard their money because they do not know where they will be moving/living. They do not create the garage businesses or "invest" in small businesses.
    2) Allow the biggest banks to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy petitions to reorganize or Chapter 7 petitions (end bailouts, end preferred stock purchases, and end the moral hazard of speculative finance putting our homes at risk);
    3) Nationalize the Federal Reserve and extend credit to union-productive jobs (infrastructure spending) and loans at low interest to start up tech businesses and small businesses;
    4) Dramatically reinvest in our national infrastructure, particularly energy and transportation (high-speed rail, modernize airports) sectors; and
    5) End wars, close bases and use the savings to invest into AMERICAN infrastructure and great AMERICAN jobs---including private-sector jobs for our veterans---here at home.

    (An aside: I am beginning to visit this blog too much, I think.)

      You make some interesting points here (if somewhat unworkable in reality) but not addressing the post at all. Maybe you should start your own blog because I would definetely read it (even if I do not exactly agree with you).

    3. "3) Nationalize the Federal Reserve..."

      I disagree with the idea of giving the ruling elites more power and control. But I do support auditing the Fed and making all of its operations open and accountable.

      "4) Dramatically reinvest in our national infrastructure"

      To do this, repeal Davis Bacon and Prevailing Wage. We would again have "best bidder" for infrastructure projects. These would cost a lot less (which frees up a lot of money for more projects), and hire a lot more people... a win win situation.

      "5) End wars..."

      Everyone wants to end wars. The key is to do it properly, by defeating the terrorists and other aggressors. "Ending" them by running away from the battlefield does not end them at all: the war ends up raging on, and it encourages our enemies to attack us even more.

    America's fundamental economic problem is a lack of confidence in the president. Once Obama is gone, confidence and prosperity will return.

  4. electing a new president is exactly what you need. failed policies,what policies, for four more years help nothing. we need to tap into the resources we have here NOW. develop the infrastructure for this . the government produces nothing. take the uncertainty of obamacare along with EPA strangle hold off businesses and watch what happens. there are enough rules inplace now . we've had academia running the country for 4 years and that is not working. energy will take us into the future if we let it

      The terrible and tragic irony is that his candidates want to reduce spending on infrastructure. LOL. I talk about brinkmanship in the Senate, and that is what Congressman Ryan engages in the House; he has opposed every piece of transportation infrastructure spending.

      He is of the ilk of union-busting Walker in WI, and remember that Ryan is from WI. Also remember that "professional courtesy" does not exist in WI, and the police will ticket Chicago cops. And the fines and costs for tickets in WI is the highest in the country.

      These are union-busting, asset-stripping corporatists of the highest and indeed most foul order. Our assets (infrastructure, social security, etc.) will be stripped and busted to deliver tax cuts for the wealthy.
