New pension website by Commissioner Bridget Gainer

Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer  has something to say.
Bridget Gainer is the first and only politician to offer a workable solution for the pension problem. Perhaps she should run for mayor.
OpenPensions.Org, provides access to all pension data, analysis of what changes to contributions or benefits would cost and how changes would impact employees. This is the first time that the status of the County's pension, the unfunded liability and possible solutions will be available to all - taxpayers, employees, retirees and the civic and business community. Our Truth in Numbers report details how the Cook County Pension Fund fell from over 90% to less than 60% funded in just 10 years. It also presents a set of solutions that will be the basis of engaging all stakeholders across the County.

A former Park District employee, always tied-up politically, a faux reformer at best.

No wonder she makes sense, she’s not a lawyer and she has an MBA which means she has had class work in accounting, finance and economics.

Imagine what the whole country would be like today if we had a Congress full of those. They’d actually understand the detrimental effects of spending more than you take in. They would also understand the importance of retiring debt and the advantages of a higher credit rating.

Then we wouldn't have a doofus for Governor that reminds everybody of the character Gov Le Pétomane in Blazing Saddles.

The meeting is adjourned... it is?
We got to protect our phoney baloney jobs.

Our governor graduated from Georgetown and Northwestern and has a law degree, our president attended Columbia and Harvard. Some big name universities, but what does it mean?
      Anyone can get a degree.

Math promotes logical thinking. If you are a lawyer most likely you've never had math after HS. People with accountig n, Finance and Economics degrees have had math and know how not to let spending exceed income.

US Gov't need less lawyers and more Finance, Accounting and Econ majors in elected office.

It is funny how even liberal supporters of Obama Democrats (who spend and borrow at the national level like drunken sailors) - even those liberals, when faced with the ridiculous mismanagement of Chicago, Cook County, and State budgets that are a mess - when they are faced with making the actual decisions, and when they dont have a blank check book like Obama - they make fiscally sound decisions like Republicans !! These people have NO choice - there is no money left....cut the Link cards, in state tuition breaks for illegals....stop spending....Gainer is another former 19th Ward Democrat who is drinking the left wing liberal Democrat position - and even she is proposing fiscal sanity !!

The reason these ward 19 politicians arent talking about pension reform is because they are all compromised. Maloney is getting 4 pensions. FOUR PENSIONS. What about the rest of them?

Not to change the subject but I just came from the new Turkey Time sandwich shop in the 95th Street strip mall adjacent to the vacant Borders Bookstore. I felt like I was on 63th and Cottage Grove. First there was cars taking up two parking spaces while blasting loud music. Next the lighting was very, very poor in the parking lot which made the strip mall seem very scary. Finally, on my way out of the shop I was approached by people who obviously were not from our neighborhood begging for change. It is a shame that we live in one of the most affluent communities in the city, yet we cannot frequent many establishments because of safety concerns. It is even a greater shame that we cannot attract safe family friendly viable businesses in our Ward like Evergreen Park continues to do. The new development on the east side of Western Avenue will be a great boon to Evergreen Park but will be nothing but a giant headache for our Ward without any benefit.

Are you saying that the dining room was full or is the dining room the parking lot. What would you rate it as far as bread and cicuses?

I think we should tell Evergreen Park that we will have to triple the water rates to the village in order to cover all the associated headaches the taxpayers of Chicago are going to suffer by choosing to build on green space.

just have teachers go on 3-10 hour days and sell it as a green program:positives are the kids spend more time in school in summer months they can go at night when it is cooler/no need for a/c,less fossil fuel being consumed in preparation of the three meals that have to be served and free themed sweatshirts for all faculty and staff. There are so many ways to solve the pension problem just think green.
